Consumers of Individuality or Conformity
The article "On sale at Old Navy: Cool clothes for idetical zombies!" by Damien Cave speaks of his and others opinions on how stores like Ikea, Old Navy, and factory outlets are creating mass products of the same materials and fooling people into buying them because they're cheap. Critics, Frank and Naomi Klein speak towards these clothing lines comparing them to "carnival attraction." People do not understand that they are being pulled in because the companies make it difficult because there are so many colors that they can't notice everything is still the same. What is funny with the whole article is that it has been proven that this marketing system of selling high quantity for relatively high quality does help the economy. I think each person is still being individual by choosing the wide variety of furniture or clothing because they still must like it. So this journalist is maybe just a little too artistic and worries about an image that maybe isn't necessary or taking away from any individual.

"Open A Vein"
As a believer in Christ. As a person called to full time youth ministry. I am passionate about God, I am passionate about striving to live out my life as Christ had, I am passionate about the local church, I am passionate about students, I am passionate about spreading love, I am passionate about being in relation with people, I am passionate about prayer, I am passionate about opening people's eyes to the Creator who has given them something great to use, and I am passionate about letting them know their story will one day be used.
I also would say I'm very passionate and interested in many other things. I love sports! I love music! I play pretty much every sport I can, and I sing as many hours of the day I can. And I really love Olivet!
When it comes to the role writing has played in my passions, I mainly have written for papers in my academic career to further my education in Ministry/Theology. I also would say I have written much to get my ideas and the voice of the Holy Spirit out as I preach and lead devotionals and worship services also. All that of course goes to God, it's not my skill that has brought me to that, but the leading of God in my life. I also for a short time combined my ministry heart with my love for music and did a series called "real talk" on Facebook where I got out God's message through secular song lyrics.
This year I will try to relate ministry throughout this blog time. But I will try to write to whatever topic it is as it is as well. I love the gift, each of us have, of our "story." So hopefully I can get some of my story out in parts this semester as well. The Word says that, paraphrasing, "through the testimony of Christ we are saved," so I truly believe in testimony and hopefully it will relate or touch someone through our time as well.
